Virtual Event- Watch Here

One of our most endearing values and aspirational goals as a Columbia Climate School is
to advance a strong sense of pluralism in our community through informed, healthy
dialogue, while intentionally elevating principles of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Anti-Bias,
Anti-Racism, Accessibility, and Justice. Diverse communities will and should represent
diverse perspectives- even opposing viewpoints. Engaging in dialogue while honoring our
humanity is paramount.

Associate Dean Walkes will facilitate an open and respectful dialogue among virtually attending Columbia Climate School students, who wish to engage in the space. The online dialogue, Centering Our Humanity: Courageous Conversations in Times of Conflict, will explore ways to navigate dissenting views in dialogue without sacrificing a sense of shared community. We will also share tools for advancing courageous conversations while managing mental wellness.

This is not a lecture and will be a space where students’ voices and experiences are
centered. Community guidelines will be introduced for civility, authenticity, and respect
and will be maintained throughout the virtual dialogue for all participants.
