Earth Week Sustainability Action Summit

The Environmental Justice and Climate Just Cities (EJCJC) Network at the Columbia Climate School  and the City College of New York with WEACT invite you to a three part event on April 27th celebrating student activism around sustainability, climate and justice. 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm: Join City College and Columbia Students for panel discussions on Research & Activism around Sustainability and Environmental Justice on City College Campus at the Steinman Building Room 161 

The panel will feature from CCNY: Alex Klein and Oscar Guatemala (MS.Sustainability Program - Capstone Project - Responsible Materials Management at CCNY); Yael Amron and Jerilys Perez (MS Sustainability - Capstone Project - Campus Energy)

Haftam Heathwood (Sustainability Public Service Announcement  Project) Diana Yauri and Rafael Cruz (Learning & Public Engagement Major) and Marileidy Pimentel Paniagua (CCNY Climate Fellows - WE ACT) and from Columbia University Hannah Su-An Lin (Climate and Society) Eveline Mol (Columbia Sunrise Movement), Matthew Ruppert (Columbia Policy Institute), Shushu Crevoshay (Columbia University’s Impact Investing Network (CUIIN), Nour Aljowaily (Sustainable Development program SDG Student Hub)

The discussion will be moderated by Stephanie Rose, CCNY. 

2:30 pm- 3:35pm: Environmental Justice Walks from City College to the Forum, Columbia University

These walks will explore our neighborhood from the lens of student activism and environmental justice and will be led by WEACT. Charles Callaway, WEACT, Thad Pawlowski, Center for Resilient Cities and Landscapes, Columbia University and Ali Syed, City College will serve as guides.


3:45 pm –6pm Uniting for Change Dialogue at the Forum at Columbia University featuring speakers from WEACT, Columbia University, City College and the Mayor's Office of Climate and Environmental Justice followed by student panelists including Jes Vesconte (Climate and Society) Eveline Mol (Columbia Sunrise Movement), Matthew Ruppert (Columbia Policy Institute), Shushu Crevoshay (Columbia University’s Impact Investing Network (CUIIN), Nour Aljowaily (Sustainable Development program SDG Student Hub) who will discuss their goals and aims for transformation in dialogue with City College counterparts. The discussion will be moderated by Jacqueline Klopp Center for Sustainable Urban Development and the EJCJC Network, Columbia Climate School.
