Student Roundtable and Lunch with Luis Tineo, CEO (Interim), CIF

Please join the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia SIPA for a student-only lunch and roundtable discussion with Luis Tineo, Interim CEO, Climate Investment Funds. Mr. Tineo will discuss the role of the Climate Investment Funds in financing key areas for the energy transition in emerging markets including the transition away from coal, decarbonization of heavy industries, clean energy storage, nature-based solutions as well as renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable transportation projects. The event will be moderated by Dr. Luisa Palacios, Senior Research Scholar at the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia SIPA. 
Lunch will be provided.

The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) is one of the world’s largest multilateral funds helping low and middle-income countries adapt to and mitigate climate change. Since 2008, it has been channeling funds from government donors and the private sector to support more than 370 projects in seventy-two countries.

Biography 
Luis Tineo joined the Climate Investment Funds in July 2023 as Interim CEO. A World Bank Group veteran, he has over twenty-five years of experience in developing and implementing large programs, partnerships, and country engagements, across sectors and World Bank Group practices. He has a comprehensive understanding of climate change policies, strategies, institutions, finance, governance, and regulations.

Tineo has a master’s of law, environmental and energy law from George Washington University, Washington DC, a master’s of law in economic law and government regulation, Universidad Complutense, Madrid, and a bachelor’s in law and jurisprudence from the Universidad Católica, Caracas, Venezuela.
