Transformations in agriculture: measuring, mapping, and modeling soil changes at scale

Abstract: Agriculture is a pillar of modern civilization, yet it is currently undergoing an enormous transformation. Driven by conservation and regenerative practices, these shifts aim to align food production with global climate goals. In this talk, I will provide historical context for these transformations, with a specific focus on soil management. I will also introduce some methodological approaches that help us measure, map, and model soil dynamics at scale, and present some preliminary results on global soil organic carbon restoration opportunity mapping.
