Fair Winds & Following Seas: The Past, Present & Future of Offshore Wind

This panel will look at the history of offshore wind law, policy, and permitting and what lessons can be learned.

About this event

The Biden administration has announced aggressive plans to decarbonize the power sector, and to ramp up offshore wind, by 2030. This panel will look at the history of offshore wind law, policy, and permitting to see what conflicts have arisen and what lessons can be learned, and will look forward to imagine future frameworks for siting and permitting offshore wind facilities at the scale needed to meet this critical moment.

Panel

  • Michael Burger, ED, Sabin Center for Climate Change Law (moderator)
  • Bryan Stockton, Head of Regulatory Affairs, Orsted North America
  • Noah Shaw, Partner, Foley Hoag
  • Teresa Christopher, Principal, TR Christopher
  • Jerry Mulligan, Win with Wind

Program is co-sponsored by the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law and the Columbia Climate School.

The Climate Group has selected the Columbia Climate School as its university partner for this year’s Climate Week NYC. Running Sept. 20-26, Climate Week NYC convenes key climate leaders to accelerate climate action and discuss ambitious commitments ahead of the 26th UN Climate Change Conference, or COP26, later this fall in Glasgow.
