This workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of the UNFCCC COP process, offering insights into the dynamics of global climate negotiations and policy frameworks. Designed for students and CUID members, faculty, and alumni, it will explore key aspects of the negotiations and the roles of green and blue zones at COP.
Abstract: This two-hour workshop aims to anchor students into the processes of the COP, highlighting the history and structure of climate negotiations. The first hour will focus on an introduction and premise-setting on the COP, led by Dr. Hans Bruyninckx and Dr. Lisa Dale. The second hour will feature a fireside chat and interactive panel discussion moderated by Dr. Lisa Dale and involve panelists comprising Professor Andrew J. Kruczkiewicz, student speakers Kalain Hosein and Amina Diop and Andrew Kamau the a Co-Director for the Energy Opportunity Lab as well as other Columbia stakeholders. The event will emphasize the importance of understanding the negotiation process and the interplay between different stakeholders at COP.
Workshop Structure:
First Hour: Introduction and overview of COP processes by Dr. Hans Bruyninckx and Dr. Lisa Dale.
Second Hour: Panel discussion and Q&A session moderated by Dr. Dale and featuring faculty members Andrew Kruczkiewicz and Andrew Kamau (CGEP) and our student speakers Amina Diop and Kalain Hosein.

• Information Packet on COP: Available to participants either in advance or at the venue, with a QR code option for digital access.
Refreshments: Snacks and coffee will be provided. Depending on audience size, the Climate School office space may be used for refreshments due to space constraints.
