Energy with a War Next Door: Europe’s Balancing Act

April 28, 2022
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
America/New_York
Faculty House, 64 Morningside Dr., New York, NY 10027

No one knows how or when Russia’s war in Ukraine will end, but already it has left indelible marks on the energy and climate policies of the European Union. Europe intends to restrict Russian energy imports over the course of 2022, and may move away from them entirely in the longer term. As pressure builds on governments, energy providers, and consumers, the Center on Global Energy Policy will host a fireside chat with the European Union’s Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, to discuss Europe’s plans to manage the current crisis.

Moderator:

  • Jason Bordoff, Co-Dean, Columbia Climate School, and Founding Director, Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University SIPA

Speaker:

  • Kadri Simson, Commissioner for Energy, European Commission
