Field Photography Training (Columbia UNI only)

Dear Colleagues:

We invite you to join us on Monday, June 7th for Field Photography, a training session to help research scientists improve photography skills, storytelling abilities, and gain an understanding of basic photographic workflow and file handling while in the field. The session will be led by John Bulmer, an internationally published professional photographer specializing in environmental images.

When:  Monday, June 7th, 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
Where:  Via Zoom
Who: This session is open to the Columbia community, and those involved in fieldwork are especially encouraged to attend.

·        Basic Workflow: File and Memory Card Handling
·        Shooting in the Field: Best Practices
·        Harsh Conditions and Camera Gear: Best Practices to Keep Your Gear Working
·        Tips for Operating in Challenging Environments
·        Storytelling: Three Different Types of Shots and How to Build a Narrative
·        Basic Lighting Concepts: Direct Light vs. Bounced Light

The training will be 60 minutes, followed by a 30-minute question and answer session.
