America/New_York

Join longtime journalist Andy Revkin of Columbia University with Oscar-nominated filmmaker David France and prize-winning pandemic journalists Jon Cohen and Laurie Garrett in a free-wheeling discussion of France’s HBO Max film on the vaccine race and vaccine inequity.

Other guests may join.

From the moment in January 2020 when the genome of the virus behind the exploding COVID-19 pandemic emerged from China, a race was on around the world to produce vaccines using novel methods at an unprecedented pace.

The journalist and filmmaker David France, nominated for an Oscar for his 2012 documentary on AIDS, dove into the task of chronicling this worldwide effort and, at the same time, the wrenching failures in policy that sustained profound hot spots of vulnerability even as the affluent world gained protection.
