A Talk with Daniel Immerwahr, New York Times Best-Selling Historian; Writer, New Yorker

The Los Angeles fire of 2025 is not the first time a mega-fire has ravaged the American landscape.  In this talk, Daniel Immerwahr (Northwestern), analyzes the impact of fire and wood at different junctures in American history: rapid industrialization, mass urbanization, and war.  In the era of climate change and drier and drier timber, the public health implications of the country's "fire history" are enormous.
