Meet Scientists and an Artist on a Deep-Sea Test & Quest
Join Andy Revkin of the Columbia Climate School in a live webcast with ocean researchers and the artist and author Karen Romano Young aboard a final certification cruise for the fabled Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution human-occupied submersible Alvin.
Recent upgrades are designed to allow Alvin to take a crew of three as deep as 6,500 meters (four miles) below the surface.
Along with Romano, scheduled guests include Anna Michel, chief scientist on the cruise and at the National Deep Submergence, the Rutgers University oceanographer David Davis and Sabrina Douglas of the Cayman Islands Department of Environment.
