ABSTRACT:
The talk will present two ongoing research projects at Lamont/Columbia: i) The GreenDrill project (https://greendrill-cosmo.ldeo.columbia.edu/), investigating the vulnerability of the Greenland Ice Sheet to warming; and ii) The 'Mountain Glacier Contribution to Sea Level Rise (MAGIC; https://www.glaciersealevel.com/).
Based on the direct connection between the melting ice on our planet and the threat of rising seas, I will highlight the urgency to respond and adapt, the importance of science within this, and the link of these natural processes to the Climate Justice Nexus.
