Join us for Resilient Futures: Civic Engagement and Call to Action, a half-day workshop dedicated to empowering communities and stakeholders to take equitable, actionable steps in addressing the twin challenges of climate and health. This session will spotlight community involvement as a cornerstone of climate resilience, with a focus on equity and marginalized communities. This event is hosted by the NYC Preparedness & Recovery Institute, in partnership with the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene and the National Center for Disaster Preparedness at the Columbia Climate School.

What to Expect

This workshop is designed for government, academia, community organizations, and business leaders who are committed to advancing climate and health justice, particularly with a focus on equity and marginalized communities. Participants can expect:

  • Engaging Panels & Discussions: Hear from experts and community leaders on practical next steps for climate and health action.
  • Breakout Sessions: Dive into case studies, storytelling for advocacy, collaboration with NYC DOHMH, and the Action Lab Refinery for co-creating solutions.
  • Hands-On Learning: Develop step-by-step action plans, advocacy strategies, and coalition models.
  • Networking Opportunities: Strengthen connections across sectors and collaborate on collective climate and health justice initiatives.
  • Actionable Takeaways: Leave with practical tools, lessons from successful community-led initiatives, and opportunities to partner directly with NYC DOHMH and others .
