#Stocktake4ClimateEmergency - Paris Agreement Local Stocktake

September 21, 2022
10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
America/New_York
Off-campus Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute at Hunter College, 47-49 East 65th Street, New York, NY 10065

The Paris Agreement mandates that a “Global Stocktake” occur every 5 years to track the world’s progress toward a 1.5-degree future. During this Summer’s Bonn Climate Conference, the UNFCCC recognized that climate action happens at the ground level in communities by announcing that the Global Stocktake should be a local-level process. At Climate Week NYC, the Paris Agreement Local Stocktake will activate through a partnership between ICLEI USA, New York City, Climate Mayors, Columbia University, Hunter College and CDP —previewing this important pathway that communities can use to contribute directly toward the Paris goals. Across this 90-minute introduction to the local stocktake, leaders from NYC, city networks, mayors, and scientists will show attendees how any community can host their own stocktake event between this year’s COP27 and Earth Day 2023. The #Stocktake4ClimateEmergency invites hundreds of cities to open an “emergency mode” era for the Paris Agreement through inclusive dialogue that ultimately communicates to the UNFCCC an inclusive vision for a just, decarbonized future. Participants will receive a digital Local Stocktake Toolkit during Daring Cities 2022 in October.
