Two Way Communications in Disasters: Going beyond alerts with....

September 23, 2026
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
America/New_York
Teachers College Columbia University, 525 W. 120 St., New York, NY 10027

Even with the growing frequency of disasters, alerts are typically one way broadcasts, making it difficult for people to find resources or coordinate. We need more efficient disaster communication, with communities participating in engineering-level codesign.  This is especially important with vulnerable populations in Tribal Nations and urban areas.

In this highly interactive session, participants be playing through new tools and strategies being discussed by Tribal Nations, communications providers, disaster experts, and cities working with students from impacted communities to explore future solutions at this session of the Disaster Readiness Summit with The National Center for Disaster Preparedness, 1:30 - 3:00 PM, Wednesday, Sept 23rd at Teachers College, Columbia University

2:00 - 4:00 PM, Wednesday, Sept 23rd at Teachers College, Columbia University
