The Lamont Earth Science Colloquium presents:
Updates from the American Association of University Professors at Columbia
Abstract: Following up on our presentation in July, members of the chapter board of the Columbia AAUP, including Bob Newton, Joerg Schaefer, Michael Thaddeus, Susan Witte, and Giulia Zanni, will update the Lamont community regarding developments over the last three months. We will discuss:
— Columbia's resolution agreement with the government and other campus developments;
— The legal successes achieved by the national AAUP;
— The Columbia chapter's recent events and projects, and those we are planning in the near future;
— Advocacy efforts, including those in Westchester and Rockland Counties;
— How to get involved.
The Earth Science Colloquium Series, sponsored by Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory and Columbia University Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences (DEES), provides a lively forum for discussing a wide variety of topics within the Earth sciences and related fields. Colloquia are attended by the full range of scientific and technical staff at LDEO. Colloquium attendance is required of all pre-orals DEES graduate students. The Colloquium Series supports the Lamont Seminar Diversity Initiative.
